Ingredients: Almonds, Carolina Reaper Seasoning (maltodextrin, Salt, Spices, Citric Acid, Onion Powder, Paprika Extract, White Vinegar Powder, Natural Flavors, Garlic Powder, Carolina Reaper Chile Powder, Tomato Powder, Yeast Extract, Acetic Acid), Vegetable Oil (almond, Canola And/or Safflower). You can read more about Blue Diamond Almonds in my previous review. For a snack that is healthy and packs a punch, these are definitely worth checking out. I got the other two flavors at my local Super Target and have not checked to see if they have added the hottest one yet. I ordered the Carolina Reaper almonds from Amazon, but I have since seen them in Walgreens and in Kroger. I was having trouble finding these for a while, but they seem to be making it to more store shelves now. But all of the Xtremes are definitely good and worth picking up. And since they are at a similar heat level, I would rank them top among the three. Flavor-wise, I like the Reaper nuts, but I would probably put the Ghost Pepper ones a notch higher. I would say that the Carolina Reaper almonds are right at the hot heat level, though nothing that would make chiliheads weep (though the average mortal may want to approach with caution). Carolina reaper and scotch bonnet pepper also differ in flavor, culinary users, and appearance. (And these do have vinegar powder as one of the ingredients, bet you didn’t know that existed.) The taste is quite good and these get hotter the more you eat.Ĭompared to the other two flavors, this is definitely the hottest, though not much more than the Ghost Pepper nuts (which get three out of four flames on the can). Carolina Reaper is much hotter than scotch bonnet with a Scoville scale of about 2.2 million SHU, while scotch bonnet pepper has a heat rating of 100,000-350,000 Scoville units.

My guess is that they are going for a hot Carolina barbeque sauce flavor, which is vinegar-based. You get an immediate kick once you pop one in your mouth, followed by a bit of vinegar and a bit of sweet. These are considered the hottest of the Xtremes flavors, getting four out of four flames on the can. And now I have managed to locate the Caroline Reaper almonds, so I decided to report on them as well. I previously covered the Cayenne and Ghost Pepper flavors here. We have a sauce that will take it from blah to bangin.

The oil can make your hands burn and you can spread the heat to other parts of the body.Almond purveyor Blue Diamond has been selling almonds of all types and flavors for many years and has just recently come out with their Xtremes version. With over 90 unique hot sauces, we have the best hot sauce for every taste. Also, remember to wear gloves when you are handling or cutting up the Carolina Reaper peppers. You’ll build up a tolerance for the heat the more you consume them. Just remember to go easy if you are new to hot peppers. Others use pepper flakes for dry rubs on meats.
GHOST PEPPER VS CAROLINA REAPER FLAVOR FULL
Those who can handle the full heat cook with whole peppers. How do you use something this hot? Using these hot peppers to make hot sauces is one of the most common uses of the Carolina Reaper. Once the fruity flavor is gone though, you’ll begin feeling the intense burning of the hottest pepper in the world. Some have described it as having a hint of chocolate or cinnamon. When you bite into a reaper, you’ll taste the sweet, fruity flavor before you realize the spicy hotness. The most distinctive physical feature of this pepper is the “scorpion tail” that looks similar to a scorpion’s stinger. The exterior of the pepper is bumpy and filled with little grooves. The shape and texture of this chili is similar to the Ghost and red Habanero peppers.

Picking a pepper before it turns red will give you a milder, less pungent pepper. As it goes through the ripening process, the flavor and heat of the pepper increases. Of course, the red peppers start out as green and then turn orange before ripening to their deep red hue. However, there are some other ones like the chocolate, peach, and yellow reapers. Originally, Carolina Reaper peppers were red and that is still the most common color today. A couple pieces of toast with the Reaper can save your stomach. However you are in for a world of pain if you eat them alone. Scoville Heat Units are accepted across the board as the way to measure heat for chili peppers. I find the Reapers flavor alluring myself but its taken years of smaller peppers to build tolerance and in that time I noticed significant allergy relief so I am very appreciative of hott peppers.

Although a couple of potential peppers have risen to challenge that official title, they haven’t lasted or been proven to be hotter than the reaper which averages 1,641,000 Scoville Heat Units with some pepper measuring as high as 2,200,000 SHUs. It became the official hottest pepper in the world in 2013. You won’t find a pepper more extreme than the Carolina Reaper pepper.
